Some Facts on the Rotary Club of Bennetts Green

The Club was Chartered on 7th February 1987 sponsor club was Rotary Club of Belmont  Commencing with 25 Charter members; George Manoulis and Alan Hargreaves are remaining out of the original 25 members.

The club has been involved in various projects including the following:

• The club has sponsored 14 overseas exchange Students in 18 years and also hosted about the same number
• As our first Community Service Project we carried out the supply and installation of 4 park benches and seats also beatification of grounds at the Gateshead Park.
• Trees of Joy have been conducted in average of 4 shopping centers for each of 18 years and have collected approx. 6000 presents for the needy.
• RYPEN has been run by our club for about 18 years
• Charity fund raising golf day had been held each year with Hamilton Club for 9 years (terminated by Hamilton 12th July 2005)
• Trivia nights for fund raising
• Donations to local schools, Life Line, Brest cancer screening, C.A.N.T.E.E.N, Mater Hospital, Equipment for Children’s Hospital, St Vincent De-Paul, Salvation Army.
• Loop the Lake fund raiser with Warners Bay Club yearly
• Art on the Wall at the King Street Fair Newcastle
• The up and coming Motor Home Safari
• Indigenous culture nights were held at the Hunter Sports High School
• BBQs were held at the Dudley Mens Home for 8 consecutive years
• Donations have been made to the Alzheimer’s Association
• P.C.Y.C. Our Club provided computers for their Internet room at the PCYC Windale
